DAY 2: HANOI
HANOI UNVEILED: BACKSTREETS ADVENTURE, INSIDE OUT DISCOVERY, AND EAT & DRINK VIETNAM EXTRAVAGANZA!
Duration: 11 hours
Hanoi has been the Vietnamese capital since 1010 A.D., so there are endless stories to be recounted from within the city's bustling alleyways and diverse quarters. Today, we'll turn Hanoi inside out as we immerse ourselves in these tales.
The must-sees of the Old Quarter are best explored on a cyclo: a bicycle-powered rickshaw driven from behind by a native Hanoian! Drift elegantly through the busy inner streets, taking in the hustle and bustle on all sides. Then, let's visit some main sites of Hanoi, including the Temple of Literature, the Parisian boulevards of the French Quarter, and, if you're up for it, Ho Chi Minh's Museum complex and the historic Ba Dinh Square.
After lunch at a celebrated local restaurant renowned for its signature grilled fish (""cha ca""), we will switch the mode of transport to explore Hanoi on the back of vintage Soviet-era Minsk motorcycles, driven by our experienced drivers. We'll head into the narrow maze of winding, zigzagging back streets and alleyways where you'll have the opportunity to experience authentic, behind-the-scenes Hanoi.
Dinner tonight will be a real foodie adventure with the focused area once again being the Hanoi Old Quarter. Grilled meats, fresh seafood, tangy salads, and a cornucopia of sesame, garlic, cilantro, chili, and lime are just the starting point for one of Asia's darling cuisines. Let's enjoy an introduction to Vietnamese food and drink, covering the basic ingredients, various styles, and of course, lots of sampling. Sampling is key, and we'll make a couple of stops at cafes to experience a few bedrock culinary delights: spring rolls, salad wraps, and be treated to local specialties - vermicelli noodles with tender grilled pork, broth, and herbs, fresh garlic, and chilies. There is plenty of food still to discover in the capital.
Notes: The trip will begin with a morning visit to the city's major sites, followed by lunch featuring a grilled fish dish. In the afternoon, we'll embark on a motorcycle trip through the backstreets of Hanoi. Late afternoon and evening will be spent exploring the Old Quarter by cyclo and mostly on foot for a foodie adventure.
DAY 3: HA LONG BAY
HANOI TO HA LONG BAY, PRIVATE JUNK CHARTER (DAY 1)
Duration: Full-day (a private transfer of approximately 2 hours 30 minutes, then afternoon and evening aboard)
No trip to Northern Vietnam is complete without a visit to Ha Long Bay, a remarkable seascape of lush, rainforest-clad limestone islands and pillars jutting out of the surrounding emerald blue water as far as the eye can see. And there is no better way to experience this UNESCO World Heritage Site than by sailing through the calm, scenic waters on board an elegantly designed and high-standard Chinese Junk ship.
We will drive from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay where, upon arrival, your crew will welcome everyone aboard the ship and set sail into the Bay. Situate yourself on the deck and take in the never ending parade of karsts, caves, and coves passing by on all sides. In the afternoon we'll explore a couple of the area's deep caves before a sunset kayak paddle, followed by relaxation and dinner.
DAY 4: HA LONG BAY & HUE
HA LONG BAY - HANOI, THEN A FLIGHT TO HUE
Duration: 7 hours 30 minutes

Upon arrival, your host and driver will greet you for a 30-minute drive to the hotel in Hue. Enjoy your evening at your leisure.
DAY 5: HUE

Your adventure begins as you meet Ms. Nhu Huy, who will guide you through an immersive stroll in the vibrant local market, unveiling the array of fruits and vegetables unique to the region. Delve into the intricacies of these ingredients, integral to the essence of Hue's traditional cuisine.
Returning to her home, engage in an exclusive, hands-on cooking class led by Ms. Nhu Huy herself.
